Ants, Darts, Dogs, and Speedbag

April 3rd, 2010

I like to play a game of darts in the evening, and I pretty much do so every evening.  I like to think it will help improve my competitive pistol shooting scores in competitions.  However, it also helps me unwind from a tough day at the office, doing the daily grind, doing SEO for a variety of clients, with a variety of understandings of how SEO works.  Throwing a couple of games of darts in the evening helps relax me and gives me a chance to process the daily stress of running the largest SEO company in The Philippines.

My Rottweiler generally lives on the lanai (covered porch), where I keep my dart board, and a couple of quick games gives me time with my dog while honing my pointing and targeting skills.

Here’s a photo of my dog from the the evening of October 16, 2007.  Note the cleanliness of the floor and the wall behind him.  Tonight, however, I went out to shoot darts and and spend some time with my Rottweiler, and realized the Lanai was infested with ants.  These are non-biting ants, and I believe in American we call these type ants “sugar ants”. They don’t bite.  However, there is a species of ants in Australia called “sugar ants” that are large and do bite.

Gaw (cousin) Ansell Ladra told me these type of ants are lucky and make the person or home that has them wealthy.  I think they are really more indicative of wealth, as in wealthy homes there is more a chance that the ants can feast, rather than that their presence indicates coming wealth.

Last night we were actually overwhelmed by these ants.  They were there in the tens of thousands.  Sign of wealth or not, they had to die.  I just could not deal with so many ants.
