Hurricane Wilma & Hollywood Beach Broadwalk Restoration
I took photos of the beach front here on Hollywood Beach the day aftere Hurricane Wilma churned through on a NorthEast path, October 24th, 2005. The eye passed about 30 miles up the coast from here, as I am less than 5 miles North of Miami.
Conversely, the eye of Hurricane Katrina, three days prior to its immortalization into the Hurricane Hall Of Fame for flooding New Orleans, passed directly over this same spot, but as a Category 1 Hurricane, Katrina left us with three days without power as opposed to the eleven days without power as a result of Hurricane Wilma.
The above four shots were taken at Scott Street looking North.
The above two shots were taken one block South of Scott Street, at Missouri Street, looking South.

The year 2006 is expected to be another banner year for Atlantic hurricanes. I arrived left The Philippines the end of the 2nd week of September, 2006, only to arrive at Hollywood Beach two hours before the island was closed and evacuated for Hurricane Frances. I rode my bike down to Joe’s Supermarket, took home all I could carry and settled in for a nice hurricane. I did get some decent beach videos of Francis.
