Hollywood Beach Offshore Racing
Formally known as the “Hollywood Beach Super Boat Grand Prix“, but the race is really off Hollywood Beach. The Northern end of the 6 mile course is about 200 to 300 meters North of me, so I should be able to get some nice photos of them making the turn, if they race counterclockwise, which is indicated by the course map.
The races start at 1:30 PM and should last about 4 hours. There are 5 classes being run with a total of 330 miles being run, with race lengths from 7 laps (42 miles) to 15 laps (90 miles), and since these boats can do well over 100 mph some of these races will be over in less than 20 minutes.
Update: there were 5 races and they ran them all at the same time, so the racing only lasted about an hour, but it was fun to watch even though there was a pretty heavy rain shower 20 minutes into the racing.
