The best food on Mactan Island
I had the best meal I’ve had yet in The Philippines at J & Greens House Seafood Resteruant. The price of the meal was very high for The Philippines, but the service was impeccable and the seafood we picked out live from their many saltwater tanks. The shrimp were the largest I have ever seen, some of them close to a foot long. The crabs had the biggest claws I had ever seen. Stone crabs do not even come close. One claw and some rice could probably feed a family of three. Also, their Kinilaw (my favorite Filipino dish) was also the best I’ve had though it was a little heavy on the hot peppers.
J & Greens is on Mactan Island, address: M. Patalinghug Jr. Avenue, Basak, Lapu-Lapu City, Cebu. Phone number 341-1113 for reservations (probably not needed during the day, but weekend evenings it would be a good idea). Ask for Julius D. Montecillo to make sure you get the same impeccable service and tell him the fat guy with the ponytail and the Google cap sent you.

Hi Michael…
I was staying at the Marriott in Cebu City. We went to visit some beach resorts in Mactan to look around, but I made the choice to go to Boracay later on in our trip. When we told the taxi driver we wanted something to eat and he recommended a place and drove for several miles I was starting to wonder what he had in mind. We passed all the locals and their chicken stalls, but it was worth the wait as we pulled up at J Greens. We had squid and lobster and a few shrimps. Lobster was one half in butter the other in a chilli sauce. Few bottles of wine made it come to a good 50 pounds ($100), huge price for the Philippines but it was one of the best meals i’ve ever had. Nice to hear from someone who has been to the same place, I didn’t think I’d find anything on the internet about this little hideaway…
