Dynasty Court Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City
The Dynasty has a great location, in the heart of CdO. It’s right across the street from my favorite pool hall, Ralf’s, below which is a new club called Mojo’s that has a live band pretty much every night, then the old Xcite is next door, but is currently being remodeled and will be reborn as “Pulse”, in the next month or two.
Dynasty is about 3 blocks from the famous “Nite Cafe”, where the city streets are closed to vehicular traffic and booths are setup by various vendors selling mostly food, but also shoes, clothing and whatever else you may need on Friday and Saturday nights.
The “standard rooms” are those located on the interior of the building, there are no windows. Rates for the Standard rooms are P1250 (about $25) per night. Deluxe rooms differ from the Standard rooms only in that Deluxe rooms are on the exterior of the building and have windows. Deluxe rooms are P2000 (about $40) per night. I can’t see paying $15 more for windows. Suites have a seperate sitting area and a bedroom, they run P2500 (about $50) per night, and they also come with windows. The Suite rooms also have bathtubs and a minibar.
The Dynasty is a bit worn. Perhaps it would be better to describe it as “well trafficed”. They are currently remodeling the lobby (at least). The rooms could use new carpet, bed coverings, towels and such, but this is one of my preferred places to stay nevertheless. Location, location, location. While the rooms are well worn, this is due to the popularity of the hotel and not due to neglect. The staff is friendly and couteous.
On the 7th floor of Dynasty is Picasso’s, one of the better night spots. There’s a cover charge every night, but the cover charge also pays for a drink inside. The cover keeps the riff-raff out. Pay the cover and enjoy a nice night out without leaving the hotel.
WiFi is available. You have to buy a card at the front desk to gain access. The acces only covers this hotel and you can’t use it at other hotspots in the city. P100 ($2) for 1 hour or P300 ($6) for 5 hours of WiFi broadband.

I have been passing by this hotel for several times. I should say that they a have huge building and I think they have nice rooms and good service. My friends had once stayed in this hotel and so far I only have heard good reviews. Pulse is surely a good place to hang out most especially every Sunday nights.
