KTV Clubs (Philippine Strippers)
Strip joints in The Philippines are commonly called “KTV Clubs”. The KTV stands for Karaoke Television, otherwise known as Videoke. I know that karaoke has only been around a dozen years or so, so I wonder what they called these clubs before karaoke came around.
Not all KTV clubs have strippers. Not all KTV clubs that do have girls dancing on a stage require any nudity at all. There are Family KTV clubs where there are no dancing girls.
Personally, I like going to KTV clubs of adult variety, the ones with dancing girls. I guess it’s the Genghis Khan in me.
One of the nicest things about going to these clubs is that I am always reminded how lucky I am to have such a beautiful wife. I have yet to see one of these dancing girls who is even on par with Marissa. It is sad to say, but sometimes I just don’t appreciate Marissa as much as I ought to unless I compare her.
There are also other types of Karaoke clubs. I have been to some that have live bands and allow customers to pick up a microphone and sing with the band. These clubs will also have videoke when the band is not playing.
Another thing is GROs. A GRO is a “Guest Relations Officer”. In a strip club type KTV club these girls would be non-dancers; they would be there to sit with and entertain the guests. GROs are also found at non-strip clubs. They are paid employees of the establishment. I have been to clubs with live bands that have several GROs sitting near the entrance to entice people to come inside. GROs is often synonomous with “prostitute”, but not strictly.
Most adult KTV clubs have take-out policies, what’s commonly referred to as a “bar fine”. If you like a girl and she wants to go with you, you can bar fine her and take her out of the club for the night. “Bar fine” is basically a penalty that you are charged for taking her away from her place of employment. That is, she would be expected to earn money for the establishment if she remained there, and by her leaving with you the establishment is deprived of some earnings, therefore you pay a bar fine for removing her.
I had thought the term was “bar find”, like in a finders fee, until this was explained to me.
Generally, the rule is that 1/3 of the bar fine goes to the establishment and 2/3 goes to the girl. For instance, if the bar fine was PHP 3000 (about $60), then the establishment would keep PHP 1000 and the girl would get PHP 2000. Bar fines in The Philippines range from PHP 1000 to PHP 4000, depending on the establishment.
Bar fines are evenly applied at each establishment. That is, a club will set a bar fine amount and it applies to all the girls. You can’t argue, “but she’s the ugliest girl in the whole place, surely she’s never been bar fined before, I should get a discount”.
You would think that all the prettiest girls would work at the places with the highest bar fines and the ugly ones would work at the places with the lowest bar fines, but this is not the case, and it’s a matter of class: Just because a girl is pretty does not mean she has what it takes to work at a classy establishment. It’s common in Philippine bars to have urine and vomit on the floor and in the men’s urinals. It is common. Often the water does not work in the toilets or in the sinks in these places. An upscale adult KTV club is thus one in which the bathrooms are clean and the customers behave themselves even when drunk. Some girls are just don’t know how to behave in such places and prefer the trashier joints. It’s a matter of class.
Generally, the girl has to want to be bar fined. Some girls may be fine to sit with and entertain a customer in the security of the establishment where she feels protected, but is not fond enough of the customer to be bar fined to them. In which case the girl will tell the client she doesn’t do such things, either because she has a boyfriend, or husband, or perhaps she’ll tell the truth and say she’s scared. I’ve even heard them say they wouldn’t go with a Kano (American) because they are afraid of penis size. (In India they say there are three kinds of pussies, there are deer pussies, there are cow pussies, and there are elephant pussies. I am fond of elephant pussy myself.)
There are some virgins who work at some of these places. The bar fine on virgins is quite high. Since I’ve had my share of virgins, and I’m not particularly fond of them, I have never inquired about them. But I can tell you that I have never met a virgin who was a nude dancer. Generally they will work these clubs as GROs, waiting for someone to pluck down PHP 20,000 (about $400) or so to deflower them.
I have tasked myself with reviewing KTV clubs. In the not too distant future, I will attend and review various clubs and present my findings here. It’s my job, and I love it.

I have lived in the Philippines several times since retiring from the U S N. I have gone into “KTV ckubs” in Cebu. Some are nice, some just want to hustle you for drinks. I don’t drink alcohol so parting with my money is more a challange for the bar girls with me. They seem to respect that. The first thing I do in any bar is find “Mamasan.” I ask to buy her a drink. I let her know my intentions & give her a small tip for her time. (P20 about.50 US) She goes about getting women I would be interested in & seems to let them know that she wants me as a repeat customer so take good care of him if he chooses them. I have met several stunning Filippinas in KTV bars. I did not have to pay as much to take one home as several Japaneese men were paying to take theirs out. I have not seen any dogs in the bars I KTV bars I went to in Cebu, but I did not go into all the KTV bars either. I’ve been told to stay out of “Steve’s” KTV bar, that it is a hustle you for drinks joint by several guys. Behind Eddy’s hotel & resturaunt is a place called lone stars. The guy who owns it is S African (white guy) The place has lots of women & is a fun place to flirt with lots of girls before making a decision. It has a pool table, & the girls don’t hastle you for drinks to much. Cebu has lots to offer. Enjoy & keep it covered when entering a pussy!

I have been to the loan star in the past. I like staying at Eddy’s Hotel very close by. The girls in the Lone Star are alright, but I find that cruising the S M mall is the best place to scope out & find good pussy. The girls there are not all just looking to score & you find some real genuine ladys there. It’s not hard at all to walk up to a Filippina & start conversation. If you are looking for pros they are in there too, & they like walking around the French Baker pastry shop/coffee bar. Some real sweet pros in the mall to, don’t get me wrong. Go into the shops & talk to the girls working in the botiques. They’re jobs are temporary, they know it & they see you as a posible future. Go into the shop to buy something & the attention they pay you would give any American girl working in a store a lesson in how to care for a customer, & listen to the customer’s wants & needs. They are usually very honest too. They will tell you if the product is “locally” made or if it is an imported more quality item. They want you to come back happy.
I have visited other KTV bars. Steve’s is a rip off as far as cost. Some pretty Filippinas there, but the barfine is not the cheepest in town. I went into a KTV that had a midget as a door man. I went in expecting to be ladies drinked to death, but was not. I found out if you go right to Mamasan & buy her the first dink & talk to her for a few minutes before going off to another part of the bar, the girls don’t hustle you nearly as bad. The place is on the end of a street that t-bones into another busy street. Across the street from the T-Bone. The girls inside were very cute, some stunning but the place was not as clean as the lone star. The lone star is owned & operated by a South African white guy. He is a rather big dude, I’d not want to piss him off really. Tried to buy him a beer cause it was eary & not to many LBFMs around, but he did not drink any beer, at least not that night. Forget his name but he bought the place from an American from you guest it Texas. He kept the name because many guys know the place. Their are other bars within walking distance, the “Black Hole” & a few others. if you don’t mind a longer walk the fire house is down Gen Santos Blvd by the circle. A few cute babes there too, but neither of them are as clean as the Lone Star. The “Lone Star” has the girls on stage dancing (shuffeling really to the music) stripping but you will not really find any girls who really know how to do stripping properly in the Philippines. I guess they figure the goal is to just get out of their cloths & that’s stripping, which is the general idea I guess, but a real stripper knows how to do it more enticingly & knows how to keep the focus on her even if the place is burning down. I have known a few, I even lived with one once, & that was fun. The Lone Star has small sized pool table, & the girls have fun with you playing the table. The girls do not try to hustle you for “Ladies drinks” or “lover’s drinks” much there, but if you see a lady you want to talk to, buy her a drink. Show her some respect. She will not gulp it dowm & hit you up again for another in five minutes either. That KTV bar with the midget door man was good about that. One drink an hour. Buying Mamasan is a good investment. In Asia it’s all about “Face” Show them respect & they will make you’re vixit much more plesent. Even if Momasan is missing teeth, be nice, buy her a drink & she shines in front of the girls. You better believe she will want you to come back to her bar again. I have gon into bars in Asia that looked to be just Philippino bars. I go in & ask very respectfully to the owner or floor manager if I “Could have the pleasure” of drinking in the bar. I have just given him “Fase” & you better believe me when a problem comes along he treates me like an old friend or a brother. They will watch you’re back. I was in a Philippino bar once & saw this drop dead beauty walk in. I called the girl over & she acted sort of like she was out of place in front of the Philippinos, but she came over & sat with me. She got up to go into the CR (comfort room / Bathroom) & the floor manager comes up to me & says you don’t want that one, she is a theif, or once I was told she would give me the clap. i was told to wait he called sombody to come over for me, & when she came in to the place the place went pin drop silent. She was stunning to say the least. “Papasan” walks over to my table with her & introduced us. She knew the value of pussy quite well, & she knew how to pleasure her client also. Needless to say she came back to my room, but not untill I bought her two drinks with out her asking either. Show them respect! Women in the Philippines especially don’t have to many options. A clerk behind the counter in McDonalds there has a batchlor’s degree. Most girls there don’t come from money. But I can tell you this, you get one who thinks you are going to be with her for keeps, & you will never see a dollar streatched so far or thin ever again. She can buy half the world it seems like with a $10,00 bill. It may not all be first class, top of the heap, but you’re needs are met & met very well. Cross a Filippina & you will ge a lesson in vindictiveness. They can be so sweet & loving, but cross one & cause her to loose face to her family or in front of relitives & she will show you what meaner than a snake is all about.
If going to the Philippines is you’re tour destination check out Cebu. It is alright. Good night life, & a lesson in culture. Lots of women to see & flirt with. I have other places I like too, but I’m keeping them to myself. I don;t want a bunch of foreigners ruining things for me in some of these off the beten path places I have discovered. The provinces are interesting & fun. Just remember just because you have cash & they don’t does not make you beter then them. They can be some of the most cordial hosts on the planet & they can be the meanest theives you ever experiencd too. Show them respect & they will respect you like a fucking king. Treat you like gold, & even offer you their daughters if you come off as a gentelman enough. Don’t flash cash. It can be dangerous & actually you loose respect from most of them because they just think you are showing off & trying to make them look bad. I watched a Philippino young man counting a wad of 1000 peso notes on a bus one day. The girls started saying things to him in their tongue & it did not sound at all friendly. I counted what he was showing as he was counting & it was about 25,ooo pesos. Compribable to what I had in my pocket. I did not show a single peso & I had girls smiling at me, winking at me, & talking to me. He sat akone with a frown on his mug. Sure the pros would hwve been on him like white on rice, but the real Filippinas don’t like to be treated like commidity really. The best pussy I ever had in the Philippines did not cost me a single peso. I had a friend who was a Philippino who told me that I was the “bus” I was the vehicle that some Filippinas wanted to board just to get out of the country. He told me that is what the Philippino’s refer to the American’s as, “The Bus” & laugh. All I said was “All Aboard” & he laughed, but I know what he was saying. He was an educated Philippino. He served in the Army as an officer too. He was a real friend all he time. When things looked bleek & trouble was brewing & the barrio was all gossiping he was calm. Alwas thought abiut the situation & explained things to me. He also listened to me & between the two of ue & our ideas he always found the most peaceful resulution to the problem. He is now deceased, & I miss him when I’m in the Philippines now. Enjoy the Philippines & the culture. Enjoy the ladies, & show everybody respect & you will have a very plesent experience. Don’t let the other American’s who have been there fo years make you bitter. It’s not America, & the Philippines has turned down statehood & territory status from America. The Philippine people are proud, & they are survivors. They were run over by the Spanish, & the Japaneese tried to take them over. They know their beautiful islands have untapped resources, & for the most part the people ther want to keep it that way. Mindanso has more oil under it than the Middle East has now. The Philippines has lots of gold on Misbate. their is heavy water between Guam & the P I but they don’t want to go after it. their is lots of iron ore there, but they don’t want to strip it away. They have learned that simplisity is a blessing. They have a reputation for burning their family members for a peso, & I’m sure in some families that is the case, but I have seen that in America. I saw a guy drive up to a reirement home & drop off his father, never to return to him to visit for years. YOu would not see such disrespect of family in the P I. Sure there are differances in the cultures. The P I is not America & America is not the P I. When chasing skirt in the P I always have a rain coat & or an umbrella, & always have a cover on before drilling deep in the gash! Common sense!

I greatly enjoyed your words Michael. I am an American, who has been living here in the Philippines for over 4 years. Most of the expats that I know here are bitter towards doing business with the Filipinos, because they lie, cheat, steal and are never on time for an appointment. However, almost all expats love the ladies here. They are not only beautiful and sexy, but they really know how to please a man and not only in bed! You are right that respect means a lot to these people and they can stretch there very small amount of income very, very far! Any guy who is thinking of coming here, should be very careful about aids. Never have sex with a know prostitute or any girl you pick up in a bar, without using a condom! If you like sex without a condom,, find yourself a good girl, that is looking for a relationship or marriage and wants no money, they are the only safe ones!

Michael Milner’s comment was very good I was still on the fence about Cebu but now I want to go. I am going in late October for my r&r from Afghanistan. Not just for the lady’s (although a large part =)) but I love experiencing and diving into a new culture. I know very little of the Philippines and hope to enjoy all it has to offer.
