Philippine Beauty Pageant — Hiyas Mindanao
My Philippines SEO company, Sticky Media Solutions, Inc., is sponsoring the Hiyas Mindanao Filipina Beauty Pageant. Basically, we are providing Sigma Beta Sorority of The Philippines with a free website and hosting.
The lighting was not the best. The swimsuit competition was supposed to begin at 5:00 PM, but some delays caused it not to begin until after sunset. The photos here are the best ones I was able to take. I was too distant for my flash to illuminate the young ladies very well, and I was crowded out by more than a dozen other photographers, with better cameras and more intent purpose.
This was definitely a fine example of Filipina beauty.
Last night, May 16, 2007, I sponsored a dinner for all the contestants and their mentors/chaperones. While I had previously seen photos of all the beauty pageant contestants, I was unable to distinguish but a couple of them at the dinner, though when they introduced themselves by name I was able to match them up with their photos.
You can vote online for the various beauty pageant contestents here. I did vote for one of the girls already, based on the photos. I’m not going to say which one, but I will tell you that after having seen her in person, she looked very little like her photo (very beautiful nonetheless), but seemed very much like a fish out of water. She was quite awkward, like a farm girl seeing the big city lights for the first time, very innocent and unsure. Endearing perhaps, but not like her sultry photo on the contestants page.
From what I understand, all the contestants had previously won provincial or regional beauty pageants, and the winner of this pageant will become a contestant for the national Miss Philippines pageant.
I will be one of the judges for the final night awards ceremony, the main pageant. I’m pretty excited about it. My wife is of course attending all events with me and keeping a tight rein.
