Motorcycle Blessing

After buying a pair of 2007 Honda XRM 110 underbone scooters (motorcycles), and a 2007 Honda Wave 125, I was informed my my wife and in-laws that I needed to have them blessed by a priest, to keep them and their riders safe from harm. I don’t know if anyone has gathered any statistics on whether blessed motorcycles are safer to ride than those that have not been blessed, but I would be interested to such.

I don’t know what we paid for the blessing but I think it was about 100 pesos per bike.  There’s a regular schedule for motorcycle blessings and people just show up at the appointed time.  There were  other people I didn’t know that showed up and got involved in our group-blessing.

I’m not real confident that a blessing will make the bike any safer and I wonder if anyone has gotten in a crash because he thought his blessed bike was invulnerable to accident.  Anyway, while it may not make me feel much better about riding in traffic, it does make my wife and in-laws feel better, and that’s enough for me to make it worthwhile.
