Rough Road to Conception

After driving the smooth and well-laid asphalt road from Oroquieta to Sampang Dalaga, we turned off onto the road to Conception. The Village of Conception was a forgotten place and only taken under Provencial and National attention about 50 years ago. Teresa tells me the village is about 80% tribal, even though they wear western style clothing these days, they live and act more like a tribe than, say, city folk. The road got better as we approached the village as there is a major rubber plantation there, and I suspect that the roads around the plantation were graded better to lesson the maintenance on platation trucks. I know my Isuzu Vehicross developed a couple of new rattles on this rough road.

It took about 1.5 hours to drive up the road, which is only 18 kilometers. However, the trip down took only an hour, and I don’t think I ever touched the accelerator on the way down, I just put the Vehicross in 1st gear and rode the brake.

I’m searching for a long-lost friend: Mike Turner, born in Spain to an American serviceman father and Spanish mother. Mike was once a student at the Univ. South Carolina.

There are a lot of Mike Turners! Maybe you’re the one I’m searching for? If not, sorry to have bothered you.

Yeah, there are lots of Mike and Michael Turners. There are about 20 from South Florida alone. About 30 of them in the Atlanta, Georgia area. I was born in Florida and went to Florida State University in Tallahassee. Good luck finding your guy.
