A Boy And His Dog
One of my favorite moves from way back is a low-budget B film that was originally released in 1975. I did not see it until the early 1980′s when it was re-released with a different marketing campaign, and became a little more successful. It was based on a short story written in 1969 by Harlan Ellison. The movie was originally released titled “Psycho Boy and His Killer Dog”.
This was a post-apocalyptic tale and Don Johnson (of Miami Vice, the TV Show) played the role of Vic, and 18-year old boy whose only worldly needs were food, and pussy. The dog’s name was Blood, and he had been, before the apocalypse, a police K-9, enhanced with some brain-embedded artificial intelligence chip that enabled him to communicate telepathically with those he wanted to.
So, Blood and Vic teamed up, because blood could smell pussy from miles away, and well, Vic had a gun and could take down game so they both could eat. It was a pretty good partnership. What happened was that Quilla June (Susanne Benton), is sent to the surface from an underground city, to entice Vic to come with her to the city. The city council is after a fresh sperm donor. Vic follows her and leaves Blood on the surface, vowing to return soon.
What ensues underground, some of it gets pretty stupid, but Quilla falls in love with Vic and frees him from his sperm donor captivity, and they flee to the surface. At this point, a couple of weeks have passed and Blood is still there at the surface patiently waiting for his master, but very near to death.
That’s where the surprise ending comes in. Rather than let Blood die of starvation, Vic kills the girl and cooks her and they both eat her. A very good and twisted end to a twisted movie.

My dog might not be able to communicate with me telepathically, but I do love my dog.

Your dog must think that you are nuts.
