SEMCON Search Engine Marketing Conference Philippines 2007
I am excited about leaving in the morning for Manila to attend SEMCON, the first Philippines, International SEO-SEM conference, and I was proud to be invited to be one of the speakers.
It doesn’t look like Danny Sullivan or Brett Tabke will be there, there are some notable other speakers such as Aaron Wall, Benj Arriola, Hans Koch, Todd Malicoat, Marc Macalua, and Abe Olandres. The full SEMCON Philippines speaker list is here.
My topic will be:
Uncovering Innovative Competitor Link Strategies
Ever wondered why the competition is above you on the search engine results? Learn your competitor’s ranking secrets via this hands-on workshop. Speaker 1: Michael Turner, CEO at Harvest SEO.com
The full list of topics and speakers is here.Â
I’ve even already started preparing something to say. The problem is that my staff tell me that I need to be very careful and not reveal too much, because Filipinos are such great mimics and copycats. I don’t really feel that way. I like being honest and open about the knowledge and experience that I have. And I would like to think that’s one reason most everyone likes me. While I am bound by numerous NDA’s that prevent me from talking about specific tactics used by some of my clients, there’s a lot of stuff we do, especially related to my topic, that I can talk about, and I intend to.
And if the result of that is that other Philippine SEO companies become more resourceful and successful, then so be it. The more SEO work that comes to The Philippines, the more SEO work that I will get.
I have an old friend, and old business associate, that believes that whenever he sees someone stick their head up and attempt to ascend, he plays whack-a-mole with them. He believes the one way he can stay above everyone else is by keeping them down. While this seems to work for him, it seems to me a morally reprehensible way for me to live. I believe that I am lifted up when I lift others up, and if I lift enough up that they will carry me on their shoulders.  This may not be true, but it the way I choose to live my life.  I am a good Samaritan, it is just the way I am.
So, get ready you guys at SEMCON Philippines. I will show you how to determine exactly what your competition is doing and pick them off one-by-one, by doing the one thing that counts the most in SEO, and that’s linking.
