Bee stings kill alleged Rape Victim
In the area of Gingoog City, a 70-year old man apparently seduced a 29 year old, mentally handicapped virgin into having sex with him in the bush. The apparent spot they picked to consummate their lascivious act happened to be in the location of a colony of African Honey Bees.
The woman ran nude back to her mother’s house but was covered by hundreds of bees and died as a result of the bee attack. The 70-year-old man apparently escaped the bees and survived.
The family of the woman is planning to instigate rape charges against the 70-year old man.
First question: Can a 29-year old mentally challenged woman give sexual consent? Surely, as a human woman she must have the desire to have sex.
Second question: It is humane to deny sex to a mentally challenged person?
Third Question: IQ’s are relevance quotients. A person with an IQ of 150 has the mental capacity of a 30-year old when only 20 years old. A person with an IQ of 70 has the mental capacity of 21 year old when they are 30 years old. This woman was functional and must have had an IQ of 70 at least, or she would not have been functional. Still, a virgin, at the mental age of 20, she is still able to give consent. If it was to a 70 year-old man, the only one that wanted her, then why not let her make the choice?
The clothes of the woman and the man were found at the “crime site”, where they were initially attacked by the bees.
Could it be that that that this is simply a tragedy? That the girl found a man that was willing to make her a woman, something she may have wanted for years, and that they simply picked the wrong place to consummate the act?, which resulted in her death?
The family of the 29 year old girl is planning to prosecute the 70 year old man for rape. But the primary witness is deceased. There are no signs of violence other than the bee stings.
Since I do not know the people involved I can not readily pass judgment here, but from the account I have read, there was seduction, but not rape. The only tragedy here is that the lovers were attacked by bees…and their personal lives revealed asĀ result thereof.
