Noli de Castro, Vice President of The Philippines
I had the opportunity, through the Rotary Club of Cagayan de Oro to meet and have lunch with Philippines Vice President Manuel “Noli” Leuterio De Castro, Jr., just yesterday.
You would think that with a background in broadcast journalism that Noli de Castro would be a talkative fellow, yet I found him to be confident, self-effacing, quiet and reserved.
In 2001, running independently for the a Philippine Senate seat, he garnered more than 16 million votes, the most for any senatorial candidate up to that time, and in 2004 became the first independently elected Vice President of The Philippines.
