TMG and Karancho Motorcade
On Monday, March 17, 2008, I, as a member of the Eagles Club of Cagayan de Oro City participated in a motorcade through and around the city with the Traffic Management Group (TMG) and the Karanchos. The TMG is a group of traffic law enforcers. The Karanchos are Arroyo loyalists and motorcycle enthusiasts who serve as a link between the police and the people.
Before and After Photo Gallery of the Motorcade. I was not able to get any photos while driving. We covered 20 to 25 kilometers during the motorcade, driving all over the city.
In the USA there is one policeman to about every 300 people. In the Philippines, there is only one policeman per 4500 or so people. So, to make up the difference there are groups like the TMG and Karanchos that provide police-type support to the society, in the absence of an actual police officer. There are about 400,000 Karanchos in The Philippines, and from what I understand, The President is one of them.
I was also able to get a short video prior to the motorcade, of the leaders talking about it. Most of the video is in Visayan and the video is about 18 MB. Click here to see the TMG-Karancho motorcade video.
Tomorrow I am supposed to ride in the LTO motorcade. I’ll try to get some photos of the actual motorcade this time.
