Meir Goes Firing

Meir was game for just about anything. When we found out there was a firing competition on May 24 and 25, 2008, at the Camp Aligar, Northern Mindanao Practical Shooting Association (NMPSA) shooting range, and that Meir’s flight was leaving at 3:50 PM on May 24, and that he would be able to shoot in the competition, I decided to give him a couple of days training.

We proceeded to the range and fortunately Range Officer Boyet Yamut was there to provide Meir with a couple of good days of instruction. Meir fired a couple of hundred rounds on Thursday and Friday, before the competition.

One thing that seemed to noticeably help his shooting was wearing an IPSA T-shirt. One wouldn’t think that a mere shirt would make any difference, but it seemed to give Meir more confidence and his shooting improved dramatically, once dressed as a shooter.

Meir, like me, goes for accuracy, making every bullet count. If you can’t hit your target, it doesn’t matter how fast you can fire the weapon. If you can put one shot dead on target, you don’t need to fire a second shot.

I didn’t get the results of the competition, but I am sure that Meir did not finish at the bottom of the production class, just as sure as I am that he did not win champion either.

I find myself in the same position as what Meir have experienced.

Kuya Mike a lot of people are waiting for your interview with Filipino Amoguis.

The TMAF which is under his supervision are impounding a lot of Tri-sikad in Mabulay St. which is not a restricted area.

In addition to that, they are not issuing an impounding receit to the driver. In fact, I recieved a complain that one driver even went to Kauswagan just to get his citation.

I personally talked to Filipino about this but he seems to be not interested in helping the poorest of the poor.

We are waiting for your updates here in your blog Kuya Mike.

I’m always reading it almost everyday. I like your topics and it’s interesting.

The people would be more interested to know how Filipino would comment about this allegations.

I honestly like Filipino but it’s just that the TMAF are out of control.

    Please advise.

I had Ret. General Filipino Amoguis scheduled for interview a couple of weeks ago, but he couldn\\\’t make it and I have yet to be able to re-schedule. However, I do have other interviews lined up with 1st District of Cagayan de Oro Congressman, the Honorable Rolando A. Uy, and hopefully with Honorable Ian Mark Q. Nacaya, City Councilor, 2nd District, this week and next week, respectively. It takes a while to get the interviews on the blog, because I record them to audio and then have to go back through them and write them up. I am also hoping to interview Senior Superintendent of the Cagayan de Oro City Police Office (COCPO) Director Colonel Isagani Genabe, Jr. (Eagles Kuya) soon, and also another Senior Superintendent, of Region 10 Criminal Investigations. Last week I was able to interview Honorable Reynaldo Nanding Advincula, City Councilor , 2nd District of Cagayan de Oro, but I have yet to get that transcribed. So, stay tuned and have patience. Also note these are busy public officials and have many obligations and often cancel on me at the last minute, so it is largely unpredictable when any particular interview will actually take place.
I was unable to compete in the firing competition on the day after Meir competed because of the christening of my son the following day, on Sunday, May 25, 2008. Thanks for being ninong Kuya Milky, we were honored by your attendance.
