RIP Danilo “Danny” P. Lagbas
I attended the wake of 1st Congressional District of Misamis Oriental Representative Danilo “Danny” P. Lagbas yesterday, Friday the 13th, 2008 and attended his funeral the following day, today. This was my third funeral to attend in The Philippines.
Above, 1st Congressional District of Misamis Oriental, Congressman Danilo “Danny” P. Lagbas with, 2nd Congressional District of Misamis Oriental, Congressman Bambi Emano.
Congressman Lagbas was previously mayor of his hometown, Subongcogon, and served as Vice-Governor of Misamis Oriental Province before being elected to the House of Representatives of The Philippines in 2004. He was re-elected in 2007.
Born January 25, 1952. Died June 7, 2008, from lung and liver cancer.
The above is a short video of the funeral procession from the ceremony to the burial plot.
Congressman Lagbas was the Chairperson of the House Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship Development, which likely means we would have gotten along rather well, had we ever had the opportunity to meet. He is the principal mover behind Republic Act 9501, the Magna Carta for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
While I never had the opportunity to meet him, I know many people who did know him, and from them I can state he was a man of great integrity and honor, the The Philippines is a lessor place with his passing.
The above is video of the 21-Gun Salute and the playing of Taps for Danny Lagbas, just prior to being laid to rest.
Even without having met him, without knowing him, from the way others speak of him, he is and always has been a better man than me. Sometimes other people rattle my cage and I end up saying something rude which I regret later. One could not rattle the cage of Danny Lagbas. He never let his politics become personal.

I was on the wake of Kuya Danny Lagbas at Bulua inside the Philippine Independent Church.
There were so many people and the place is very much secure because of the PNP personnel sorrounding the church.
I heard that the Father of Kuya Danny Lagbas was one of the Bishop.
