Who is Michael Turner (Part III)
Will the real Michael Turner please stand up?
The previous installment of this series can be found here, at Who is Michael Turner (Part II)
I was doing some research on one of my clients and found this page, Jim Boykin’s SEO Photo Album. How many photos of me, the real Michael Turner, are there on this page?
The first employee of HSEO/SMSI to post the correct number gets a free dinner for two at Sentro or Panagatan.

Hi
Just an e-mail about the CDO Rotarians.
(Sorry for being slightly off topic in this slot…don’t know how often you check your blogs…so:)
Anyhow, I am trying to interest the organization to sponsor my intended charity for the Philippines.
(There would be actually two charities, due to technicalities: the Internal Revenue Service allows “general public” type donors as a sole category OR corporate/wealthy donors as a separate category, when they give a 503c licence to obtain tax free donations for charitable causes.) A charity can be educational, research, medical, religious, etc…
The general idea is: use the USA/Philippine connection or obtaining and spending funds:
There are 20,000 pinoy doctors in the US, and 60,000 pinoy nurses. They pay Federal taxes, of which about 20% can be transferred to a licenced charity. (Thus, the donors usable income is unaffected.)
An average nurse gets $50,000 a year, an average doctor 150,000. (A specialist [surgeon, etc] makes a quarter million a year, on average.)
Charity #1, the Philippine-American Medical Fund
would target the OFW in the medical field for funds, and spend the $$ here.
Somewhat similarly for charity #2, the Scientic Institute.. the $$ would be obtained from the American taxes of multinational corporations w/ operations in the US & RP. A medium size “Fortune 500″ category multinational pays about $500 million a year in Federal taxes. Some are bound to actually abide by “good corporate citizenship”, & donate. [Again, their spendable income is unaffected.]
I picked the name “Scientific Institute” for several reasons…
The corporate donors, unlike the nurses, would easier donate for expensive medical equipment like a $2 million MRI, which could be used for university research alongside w/ charitably based acute medical diagnostics.
The Philippines does not have one academic neuro/cognitive science department. I would sure like to establish one, in conjunction w/ some university that has a teaching hospital. (The hospital connection is somewhat vital, to keep the charitable contribution aligned w/ local expectations) But at the same time: “science” allows for “technology”, as is recognized by the IRS and their view of the “public good”.
I like thew 256 channel EEG as a research instrument. It, like the MRI can show active brain regions.
Scientifically, I would like to see which brain regions are active w/ “magnetic” people. [sort of like it says on my web site]
Anyhow, the local Rotarians already have an Australian medical mission & interact w/ the Mis Or Medical Society, Xavier, etc, etc.
So, saw Chico last Thursday, & gave him my bio and the pro forma projections about a year’s revenues for charity #1:
an eventual $30 million, if 1/9 of the medical OFW would donate.
(I figure, $70, million from the corporate folks is not unreasonable estimate about donations.)
Meanwhile, a charity can be registered or under $3,000.
Loans to the organizations could be repaid, etc. fairly ast.
Well, this is the general idea.
I you could get the Board fo the CDO Rotarians interested, it sure would be nice.
Thanks.
Ivan

Niño,your dinner certificate has been paid for and is ready for pickup. It is in your name, “Niño Neri Manansala”, and I’m sure if you have ID with that name on it, they’ll give it to you. It’s good for p1000, so come hungry.
